British rapper Saint unleashes an outstanding debut EP ‘LUCID’

Saint has just released one of the most refreshing and exhilarating EP’s of 2021 so far. Despite being only approximately 12 minutes long, Saint’s EP ‘Lucid’ makes the most of short listening time to take the listener on a unique aural adventure; the rapper spits out lyrics that conjure greater emotions than most music you hear in the UK Top 40.

Not a single second of audio is wasted on this EP as every single word and beat has the sole purpose of creating a meaningful, energetic and brilliant listening experience that is sure to be constant in everyone’s summer songs this year.

“Saint is the next to blow in the urban scene” – Andrew Marston, BBC Introducing Hereford & Worcester

The EP’s opening track ‘Adrenaline’ more than lives up to its name, with Saint delivering his exceptional poetry with rapid speed, filling the listener with unlimited energy that will fit perfectly on any gym playlist.

The EP’s third track ‘Changes’ is Saint’s tribute to the power of words and how they can have a positive effect on the world, making you want to become a bit of a poet yourself. This theme continues on the EP’s closing track ‘No More’, which is Saint’s statement against the world’s lies and corruption and call to live your life based on your own astuteness, not how you’re told to live it.

Saint has used his innate ability of crafting wonderful soliloquies to bring about change in British society. This new EP has allowed Saint to finally unshackle his unique sound, which he has labelled ‘Revolutionary Rhythm’, onto an unsuspecting public. This distinctive sound has been crafted with the help of Saint’s brilliantly gifted producer ‘PsyRo’ who, in his own words, is ‘bringing a new sound for a new age’.

Hailing from Stourbridge in the West Midlands, Saint is set to become one of the most influential hip-hop artists in the UK. With the help of PsyRO, Saint has been able to set up his own label ‘MusicalKilla Records’ which is where ‘Lucid’ was released on. With Saint calling the shots on the record label, this means that his artistic vision will not be compromised for the sake of profit; the music and its underlying messages will always be the priority for Saint. Go give Lucid a listen if you haven’t already!

Shannon K hoping to ‘Lose Control’ with brand new summer single

A prolific teen sensation ready for her fifth single release in less than a year, Shannon K is a pop vocalist whose star is shooting quickly upwards. Having found her perfect pure pop sound with March single ‘Just Another Boy’, she is now ready to further develop her new approach with brand new single ‘Lose Control’. You might even notice her shorter hair this time round, as she’s just cut her hair for the cancer charity, the Little Princess Trust.

Capture2

With ‘Lose Yourself’, Shannon K continues to mark herself out as one of the most versatile young artists on the independent scene today. Previous singles such as anti-drugs tune ‘Just Say No’ and the festive track ‘Christmas Song’ first marked her out as a talented vocalist, but with this year’s quick  punch of ‘Just Another Boy’, ‘MOM’ (released on Mother’s Day, lyrics by Brian Bogdanovic) which is an emotional track that really showcases Shannon’s vocal ability,  and now ‘Lose Control’, she is showing herself to be a real contender.

YouTube:

A glittering career as a vocalist in Bollywood has seen her father Kumar Sanu win a total of 69 awards including 64 in his native India (from Filmfare, Zee Cine, Kishore Kumarand more) plus 5 internationally (from Sunrise Radio-London, West Indian Academy, Grammy-West Indies, Bollywood Music-U.S.A. and Radio Lotus-South Africa).

But now, thanks to her developing mainstream sound and with many years ahead of her, Shannon K has every chance of eclipsing all those accolades – and with more top pop singles on the way, we wouldn’t bet against her.

2Nice Unleashes the ‘Sunlight’ with Latest Track

10153723_742252632461722_7642575485299275733_n

Since winning the 2008 award for ’UK Unsigned Best Reggae/Dancehall Act’,  2Nice’s momentum and reputation has been growing thanks to his innate talent for bringing together and blending styles. His buzz is such that urban music royalty are sitting up and taking notice, with fans and collaborators including Congo Natty, Luciano, Tinie Tempah, Dizzie Rascal, Wiley, Mark Morrison and more.

And now, with new single ‘Sunlight’ release on QW-KEYMUSIC it’s set to show the world exactly how it sounds when pop, rap, reggae and EDM are drawn together, his star will continue to rise:

Gritty and raw while still having a polished sheen, ‘Sunlight’ is a single which could well see 2Nice break through from cult status to the mainstream. It’s truly impressive work from a brave and innovative artist not afraid to try new things.

All the more impressive, 2Nice does all this while suffering the debilitating effects of epilepsy. Using music in his everyday battle to overcome the condition, 2Nice finds the creative process soothing – allowing him to turn his thoughts away from an illness he has found it hard to come to terms with.

Johnny Wore Black – ‘Firefly’ / ‘Comfy Slippers’

FullSizeRender

The musical musings of a poet turned rock song writer, Johnny Wore Black is an artist who uses words to draw listeners in to his unusual tales. Born from a background in the movie business and as an A-list stunt performer, Johnny Wore Black delivers a powerful and cinematic sound.  Insistent that it’s up to the listener to discover how the music fits into their own journey through life, the songs encompass everyday situations by twisting them into dark corners and putting them against a solid rock background.

already has fans among music’s top table. Notable followers of Jonny Wore Black include Tim Simenon (Bomb The Bass), Danny Bigfoot (Shanks and Bigfoot), Loretta Heywood (Winter in July), David Ellefson (Megadeth), Simon Hutchby (Earthtone 9) and more.

David Ellefson chose to work alongside Johnny Wore Black on production duties, as did Grammy Award Winner David Bottrill. The fact that such storied veterans of the business believe in the music of Johnny Wore Black goes some way to confirming the potential of this unusually dark artist.

In the words of David Ellefson himself:

“Johnny Wore Black has a very unique sound that I like and as an artist creating a unique sound is one of the hardest things to do, you either have it or you don’t and to me Johnny Wore Black definitely has it.”

Crazy Fenton New Single – ‘Cool Ella’

20150203_110526

Having worked with renowned producer Dave Allen (The Cure, Human League, Chameleons) to arrive at an energetic studio style, the new single ‘Cool Ella’ is set for release on June 22nd. High energy and built on a foundation of distorted guitars and pounding drums, this is one for fans of the classics.

A welcome throwback to the golden ages of punk and rock, Crazy Fenton is the musical brainchild of songwriter Clive Aliker – a Norfolk based artist who is a big fan of making a good old fashioned ruckus. With influences from 60s garage rock and 70s punk all the way through to the modern day, Crazy Fenton is the work of a veteran musician who certainly knows how to rattle out a top tune.

With lyrics inspired – in Clive Aliker’s own words – by ‘deaths, mental failings, and a complete inability to understand the female species’, these are songs that listeners can’t fail to relate to.

‘Cool Ella’ is one hell of a way to come out fighting, and with the follow up album due a couple of weeks later on July 13th, you will be hearing a lot more of Crazy Fenton in 2015. The album, produced by British EDM trailblazer Alex Banks (EZ Rollers), is the kind of release which will have the music industry on high alert with its raw song writing and production values.

And in ‘Cool Ella’, Crazy Fenton has picked out one hell of an entranceLinks:

BowLDN ready to unveil new single ‘Survivor’

11119074_10152667121781315_1716026069_n

Based in South West London, BowLDN is a solo artist and producer who is no stranger to going against the grain. Working hard to create a unique hip hop sound all of his own, he has consciously stepped away from the pigeonholing and standardisation of the music industry to create something new.

The latest example of his unusual sound is his track ‘Survivor’, a fittingly named single about overcoming adversity to make a better life for yourself – a subject with which BowLDN has a lot of experience.

Diagnosed with learning difficulties at a relatively late stage in his schooling, BowLDN was initially told by his mainstream school that he wouldn’t pass his GCSE exams. Taking the decision to leave behind a school who had lost faith, he studied for his GCSEs at a YMCA training school, eventually passing each subject and specialising in music.

Moving on to college, he once again found himself lost in the shuffle, and getting in with the wrong crowd. A scrape with the law left him sentenced to one year’s probation and 30 hours community service.

Encouraged as part of his sentence to join a drama group called Bare Truths, BowLDN met a supportive group of people who allowed him to express himself creatively for perhaps the first time. Once his sentence was up, and he was no longer required to attend the group, he continued anyway – learning with each session and honing his creative outlet.

The next step is the release of ‘Survivor’ on June 22nd. From there – who knows?

Capture2

West London bands, All This Noise are ones to watch for 2015, with their original and individual sound. They are very different to anything we have heard, with a fresh new take on alternative rock. Their new single ‘Seven Billion Like You’ is set for release on 15 June 2015, and it is already causing a buzz within the industry.

Single to be accompanied by B Side track, ‘The Return’

An intriguing blend of genre and ideas” Alphabet Bands

“Very much a band to watch out for in 2015” Rock ‘N’ Roll Creation

“Sophisticated and elaborate touches” Unsigned and Independent Magazine

All This Noise’s sound has been compared to that of The Cure, Radiohead and Depeche Mode. The band are starting to put their own stamp on alternative rock, with cleverly written lyrics taking us into the mind of the band, a rarity in modern music. The single has a very original sound – relaxed with a slightly haunting twist – and they manage to cross multiple genres seamlessly.

Forming in late 2014 the band have gone from strength to strength, gaining a large amount of coverage from multiple online blogs. The singer and lead guitarist, James, has worked as a sub-editor for Mixmag and has been published in The Guardian, The Telegraph and The Independent.

Alan, bassist and producer, has worked in music his entire life. He has been a session player for bands such as Freaky Realistic (Polydor), Mint Royale (Sony), and H Boogie (Island Rec). Alan also has his own studio in West London, where he records, produces and mixes for multiple bands. In the past he has worked with artists such as Mint Royale, Wolf Alice and Charlie XCX. The band has also received support from BBC Radio 6 host Tom Robinson who has played them a few times on his radio show.

Toyface ready for new album: ‘Follow the Rules of the Trainwreck’

Having been described by a fellow artist as ‘like Laura Marling crossed with Billie Holiday’, Bristol based duo Tamsyn and James, aka Toyface, are a mouth watering proposition for music fans. With a varied collection of 11 songs making up their debut album, the pair have blended an eclectic range of influences that has resulted in an album with strong jazz and cinematic leanings; both playful and plaintive.

In Tamsyn’s own words, the album ‘charts a process of experiencing, coping with, and the eventual resolution of, existential angst that I went through in my early 20s’; by way of heartbreak, physical insecurity and complex family ties’. And it’s from this well of shared stories where Toyface’s main strength lies – their ability to write with searing honesty about the common human experience, and lay those tales out across an intense, shifting musical backdrop.

For an example check out the lead album track ‘Flight’:

The pair’s songwriting process is varied: sometimes involving Tamsyn writing lyrics alongside her own simple structures on guitar; but often times working from a cappellas, which James then lays piano chords underneath. This is clearly a combination that works well and has yielded a crop of songs which are relatable to anybody who has ever found themselves working hard to find a place in the world – a situation most, if not all of us, know well.

PRimage

The album is set to be exclusively launched in the duo’s home town of Bristol on April 24th, with the album to follow shortly after. The release marks the culmination of a journey that started with a chance meeting on the way back from the Secret Garden Party festival a number of years ago.

Trying to find a way back to Bristol at the end of the festival, Tamsyn managed to find her way onto a truck with a group of revellers heading in that direction. Not long into the journey, an incident on the road left the group stranded for 28 hours waiting for the journey to continue, during which time the group bonded.

The only two people from the group headed to Bristol were Tamsyn and James, whose chance meeting has led to a sibling-like closeness, the formation of Toyface and the debut album ‘Follow the Rules of the Trainwreck’.

With a new festival season on the horizon, there will be plenty more chances to see Toyface in the very near future, starting with that album launch gig on April 24th.
