Anita Gabrielle releases the radiant EP ‘Just Neat’ to help research into Parkinson’s Disease

Anita Gabrielle has been making folk music since the late 1960s, when her brother Michael introduced her to the powerful sounds of Joni Mitchell.

Her talent blended with her supreme work ethic saw her achieve national coverage in the 1980s with her band The Crew. She has also supported seminal artists such as Divine and Labi Siffre.

Anita has always strived to have a broad musical pallet. She has incorporated acoustic rock and pop into her music through her collaborations with artists like ZeNaNa and The Favourite Aunties.

However, ever since her brother was tragically diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease last year, Anita has made it her primary mission to enhance research into the disease through her latest EP ‘Just Neat’.

This EP is comprised of 6 wonderful tracks that were materialised during lockdown, with the intention of raising funds for Parkinson’s disease research. The EP’s leading single ‘Best Friends’ is a soothing experience fronted by Anita’s ethereal vocals, tranquil guitar licks and piano riffs.

‘Just Neat’ also saw Anita get the incredible chance to work with Grammy award winning Amy Wadge, who has previously collaborated with Ed Sheeran. Amy’s gentle vocals and her innate ability on the piano serve as a valuable addition to EP’s sound.

Anita says of Amy:

“Obviously, I was absolutely thrilled to be supported by someone with the credentials of an artist like Amy, who not only has worked with Ed Sheeran but many other major artists such as Camila Cabello and Lady
Antebellum too”

Anita is also a dedicated campaigner for older women’s rights and LGBTQ+ issues, humorously describing herself as a ‘dyke in a hat’.

if that’s not enough, Anita has recently fought off a cancer scare, with the removal of a kidney and hip replacement; her burning desire and enthusiasm for life is evident in her wonderfully melodic songs. Go and check out ‘Just Neat’ if you haven’t already!

All money will go to Parkinson’s research and Anita has also set up a Just Giving page here:

The Artist Greer Baxter

Greer Baxter kicks off 2021 with her enthralling new single “Sleeping on the Couch”

Greer Baxter’s “Sleeping on the Couch” is one indie pop song that is set to blast its way through portable speakers across all university campuses in 2021. This captivating song details the all too relatable tale of sleeping on the couch after an argument with a loved one.

Greer Baxter’s insanely compelling voice conveys all the emotional pain of an argument with your other half. The song’s infectious melody only adds to the commanding piano presence and pounding drum beats to create an irresistible, evocative atmosphere. Baxter explains:

“I wrote this song about suddenly being at odds with the person you love and trying to make sense of it. We’ve all had a night sleeping on the couch and we wake up in the morning thinking: why would we let a fight keep us apart for the night? It’s about wanting to resolve it before falling asleep and wondering if the other person feels the same.”

Haling from New York City, Greer Baxter always showed exceptional musical talent from the start, learning to play piano, sing and write songs from an early age. “Sleeping on the Couch” is Greer Baxter’s first musical outing since the release of her euphoric debut EP “Bleed” in 2019. This EP showcased her innate ability to accurately capture the painful struggle of heartbreak and emotional turmoil, whilst also imposing exceptionally catchy pop melodies. She has successfully combined the sound of artists such as Regina Spektor and Alanis Morisette with an alternative pop sound reminiscent of chart favourite Halsey.

Music is not the only passion in the life of Greer Baxter. Her extraordinary command of the English language has led her to study poetry at university, which gave her the incredible opportunity to meet Michelle Obama at the White House during poetry month.

Ever since I have been introduced to Greer Baxter, her music has been a constant in my Spotify queues. Greer Baxter is an artist that is not to be missed, so check her music out if you haven’t already.

Art Rock Duo Derayernah Share New Single Siberian Scopes

Following the release of their seven tracks album ‘In Joys’ which evoked shades of concentrated freak concerti of Mothers of Invention, the proto-surgery rock of Black Midi and the proggy excesses of Porcupine Tree. Derayernah returns with a smashing new single titled ‘Siberian Scopes’. A Prog rock vengeance filled with tongue in cheek surrealism and knowing humour (sometimes lost on humans).

The Scottish duo first met when Drue Marsland walked into the wrong rehearsal room and opted to stay with Jhau Watema rather rejoin his actual band mates, the band never doubted the cosmos’ choice in uniting them and succumbed to their destiny of writing art-rock with lyrics which would doubtless spook horses.

Adam Lanceley returns with ‘Those Rose Tinted Days’

Having suffered a serious head injury from a car crash at the age of ten, singer-songwriter Adam Lanceley has defied all the odds learning to walk and talk again, and is now releasing his fifth album, Postcards from Then…, from which ‘ Those Rose Tinted Days’ is taken.

The car crash led to Adam struggling with depression in his adolescent years, but he quickly realised that the best emotional outlet for his troubles was to write music.

He had tried his hand at acting, winning a place at the prestigious East 15 Acting School, but Adam realised that pretending to be someone else was not helping him express his feelings. The side effects of Adam’s head injuries from the car crash had a detrimental impact on his mental health and music proved to be a cathartic release.

‘Those Rose Tinted Days’ sticks to Adam’s distinct sound, driven by his unique vocal stylings and backed up with wonderfully bright guitar riffs.

‘Only One’ the new single from sincere singer-songwriter Jessie Lowes

One of Northumberland’s most talented emerging artists, acoustic singer-songwriter, Jessie Lowes is set to release her new single ‘Only One’ November 28th. Following the success of her last single ‘Stars’, Lowes popularity  has soared as she gains national recognition for her beautiful,  emotive music.

True to Lowes style of raw and emotive lyrics, the new track explores the heartbreak of losing someone you love, in an honest and heartfelt manner.

Lowes life has not been an easy journey and she has been through a series of testing and turbulent times. Spending some of her early life in foster care, music has always been the one constant in Lowes’ life.

Recent years have also been tough on Lowes as she lost her mother of whom she was very close with and has suffered the agony of a marital breakup. The talented Lowes transforms the pain of these torturing times into beautifully moving music that speaks directly from her heart to the audience.

An ex-cage fighter and club level rugby player, Lowes’ masculine background contrasts her delicate lyrics and soulful delivery. Lowes music delves into the depths of human emotion and beautifully expresses the pain and beauty of life.

Lowes has recently released the video for ‘Only One’. The video aptly captures Lowes heartache, delivering a powerful and moving visual of the raw emotion Lowes emits.
