The Artist Greer Baxter

Greer Baxter kicks off 2021 with her enthralling new single “Sleeping on the Couch”

Greer Baxter’s “Sleeping on the Couch” is one indie pop song that is set to blast its way through portable speakers across all university campuses in 2021. This captivating song details the all too relatable tale of sleeping on the couch after an argument with a loved one.

Greer Baxter’s insanely compelling voice conveys all the emotional pain of an argument with your other half. The song’s infectious melody only adds to the commanding piano presence and pounding drum beats to create an irresistible, evocative atmosphere. Baxter explains:

“I wrote this song about suddenly being at odds with the person you love and trying to make sense of it. We’ve all had a night sleeping on the couch and we wake up in the morning thinking: why would we let a fight keep us apart for the night? It’s about wanting to resolve it before falling asleep and wondering if the other person feels the same.”

Haling from New York City, Greer Baxter always showed exceptional musical talent from the start, learning to play piano, sing and write songs from an early age. “Sleeping on the Couch” is Greer Baxter’s first musical outing since the release of her euphoric debut EP “Bleed” in 2019. This EP showcased her innate ability to accurately capture the painful struggle of heartbreak and emotional turmoil, whilst also imposing exceptionally catchy pop melodies. She has successfully combined the sound of artists such as Regina Spektor and Alanis Morisette with an alternative pop sound reminiscent of chart favourite Halsey.

Music is not the only passion in the life of Greer Baxter. Her extraordinary command of the English language has led her to study poetry at university, which gave her the incredible opportunity to meet Michelle Obama at the White House during poetry month.

Ever since I have been introduced to Greer Baxter, her music has been a constant in my Spotify queues. Greer Baxter is an artist that is not to be missed, so check her music out if you haven’t already.

I Am Tru Starr releases album ‘Viva’ as a hymn to Black Lives Matter

I Am Tru Starr is an artist that epitomises musical expression. The tracks on this latest release truly portray his feelings and, for that reason, listeners can find it easy to relate to the emotional lyrics.

The album gives classic soul and hip-hop vibes while also allowing I Am Tru Starr to add his own twist to the music. Having spent five years in a federal prison, his experience with the subject of the lyrics gives a sense of realism. Especially in track ‘Something’s Gotta Change’, which brims with emotion and personal experience.

I Am Tru Starr is originally from Rochester, New York and he’s living in Las Vegas now. As a young black man, he’s seen first-hand the best and the worst elements of society and portrays this through his music. We can see this through the lyrics of ‘Something’s Gotta Change’:

This society is sedated and I wanna do my part in waking ‘em up. It’s about time real music got the light it deserves. No politics. No label tricks. No big city backing. My family explained to me when I was young that Emmett Till (whose lynching was a major influence on the emergence of Black Rights in 50s and 60s America) was a distant cousin, and what he went through has always helped to fuel the passion in my music”

I Am Tru Starr boldly displays true honesty, highlighting societies problems with real potency. This album is not to be missed…
