Can Veganism Save Your Love Life & the Planet this Valentine’s?

Antiquated Valentine’s traditions see a major impact on our environment. A bouquet of flowers may be synonymous with romance, but a single Kenyan rose has a carbon footprint of 2.407 Kg CO2, equaling up to 6 miles in a car (Source). And the steak dinner you’re enjoying? A single steak has a carbon footprint of 6.268 Kg CO2, equaling up to 20 miles in a car (Source).

UK’s First Carbon Negative Restaurant Challenges All to a Vegan Valentine’s

As concern for the environment reaches an all-time high, why not show some love to our planet this Valentine’s? The UK’s first carbon negative restaurant & bar Stem & Glory invites the public to challenge outdated approaches to the most romantic day of the year…

COP26’s Hero of Net Zero, Stem & Glory, unleash a plant-based-carbon-free menu that presents a plethora of alternative aphrodisiacs – from king oyster mushrooms to passion fruit, from butternut squash to strawberries.

Fruit and Veg Diet Proven to Boost Romance

Don’t fret! No romance is spared when it comes to a vegan Valentine’s, in fact, studies show a non-meat diet sees people appear more attractive, have a more pleasant body odour and a better post-date performance…

And beyond the scientific benefits, indulging in a plant-based meal is steeped in romantic symbolism! Dating back to many ancient cultures, hopeless romantics were known to gift their romantic interest with fruit & veg to signify their love and desire. Strawberries especially! Displaying the traditional deep reds of romance, strawberries are said to have stemmed from Aphrodite’s heart-shaped tears. The fruit is loaded with vital vitamin C; crucial for the production of sex hormones and libido increasing chemical neurotransmitters!

SBM News: Y’all, It’s Time to See Dolly Parton in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Dolly Parton remains the most iconic and multitalented artist of all time. It’s no wonder Parton is one of this year’s nominated performers for an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. We’re surprised she isn’t in there already!

It’s true that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has been notoriously unwelcoming to country singers over the years. But with Parton operating since the sixties, having success in every decade since – as a country singer, pop performer, film star, songwriter and entrepreneur, to name a few – it’s fair to say Parton has had a long-lasting impression on a generation of performers including well-known Rock & Rollers!

If there’s anything we do know about Parton – it’s not to underestimate her girlish giggle! Parton’s entrance into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame would be a glorious triumph for all that she represents! An advocate of loud-and-proud feminism, taking ownership of sexuality and using it for her own agency in a time where it was considered taboo; as well as key ally to the LGBTQ+ community that has inspired thousands of drag queens to embrace their femininity!

Streaming on Prime Video on March 7th, country fans can rejoice as Dolly Parton has confirmed she’ll be hosting the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards. The awards are to take place just three days after Parton’s latest album release Run, Rose, Run on March 4th.

SBM News: Tunetables – The Perfect Solution To Music Storage

Those of us of a certain age, or of certain musical inclinations, will immediately recognise the punk/post-punk classic, “Into The Valley.” It’s one of those songs which certainly seem to define that era. The track made it to the UK’s Top Of The Pops show for legendary band, The Skids. What am I leading up to here? Well, you’ve probably heard me bang on before about Tunetables – a great new product for storing your CDs, vinyls tapes. The concept is a great one – Tunetables fashion hand-crafted table/display units copied from the class instrument flight-case design. They look great, and are a wonderful way to show off your collection.

There’s a good story behind Tunetables, as told by Rob Chappelhow, head honcho and inventor, whose personal revelation came during a visit to the Joe Strummer Archive exhibition in Covent Garden. In Rob’s own words: “set out under an acrylic plinth was Strummer’s personal tape cassette collection…his musical heritage and inspiration perfectly showcased. It was totally spellbinding. I soon started to conceptualise how I could create my own version of this…a personal time capsule of life-affirming music. I wanted something that could be inherently useful, something that I would see and use every day, and that would be a talking point for like-minded music enthusiasts.”

Kanye West reveals he will run for US president in 2020

2020 has already been a whirlwind, and Kayne West has just announced he will run for US presidency yesterday on Independence Day. Kanye West is a already a successful music artist, producer and fashion designer. However, it is not official yet as it is not clear if he has filed any official paperwork to appear on ballot.

Some people think this announcement is a simple publicity stunt, though others questioned: (according to Politico) How did West go from being a public supporter of President Donald Trump to announcing a run against him?

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future,” West wrote. “I am running for president of the United States.” Earlier this year we have also seen that Kayne West has declared he will no longer write secular music, strictly all Gospel religious music.

The Grammy winner has already mentioned running for presidency, as last November he said “When I run for president in 2024, we would’ve created so many jobs that I’m not going to run, I’m going to walk”. This would most definitely be a late registration as he is past the deadline for state filing to register as an independent candidate.
