R.Seiliog Releases Opal Drift Ahead Of Album Launch Next Month

R.Seiliog presents ‘Opal Drift’, a deep-flowing ambient techno cut from his forthcoming LP ‘Megadoze‘ out  30th of November on Turnstile music.

Welsh producer R.Seiliog aka Robin Edwards returns with his new LP ‘Megadoze’ a subtle shift from the sonic palette of critically acclaimed ‘In Hz’ and 2016’s ’Shedhead EP’. R.Seiliog creates a gentle stir from darkness, coaxing ambisonic visions of the void with synth-driven tides. ‘Megadoze’refined prologue surges through visceral tapestries of static and haze merging ambient techno, musique concrète and field recordings.

Astounding lead track ‘Opal Drift’ with its enveloping structures builds through ambient textures and a bricolage of half-remembered techno and synth waves, it’s like the evocative sound of flowing water softly sculpting the rocks of the Black mountains. Second track ‘DC Offset’ weaves intricate sci-fi soundtrack layers bubbles, babbles and skitters with otherworldly presence echoing homage to the finest work of Brian Eno, its followed by the incredible ‘Obsidian’ its deep-glitch woven journey unfurls into an awe-inspiring interlude of sonic revelry in its final portion.  Meanwhile the ambient hauntings and glacial washes of ‘Vitamin Filter’ are a masterclass in the melding of field recordings and motorik electronic beats, it’s equally the soundtrack to chilling-in, or going out.

‘Zemlya’ resonates and chimes with harmonics that conjure echoes of the percussive music of different continents from India to Africa, underscored by contrasting hues of sub-bass driven beats, crunchy granular glitch with instrumental swathes. The ambient drops of ‘Nectar Phase’with its viscous swells and fluxing breakbeat possess a timelessness. The glacial ‘Chalk Fields’ mirrors the sound of a rising sun casting cosmic beams onto your face as you lie in a dew-speckled field, samples of birds chirruping, streams flowing, a distant voice and stunning ambient textures arise into a moment of unified clarity.
Sonically daring and sewn with intricate genre-blurring levels of detail, each cut remains connected to the heart of nature in its elemental force, ‘Megadoze’ is perhaps R.Seiliog’s finest record yet.

R.Seiliog emerged from the pine coned hills of Peniel, North Wales. Releasing the warm analog psychedelia of 2012’s ‘Shuffles EP’, and his debut long player 2013’s ‘Doppler’ which was a wide-eyed homage to Krautrock. Manic Street Preachers were so inspired by his debut album  Doppler that the band entrusted Edwards to remix Manic Street Preachers’ single ‘Futurology’.

In 2014 the release of his critically acclaimed second album ‘In Hz’ a masterful work of convoluted drone and electronics. Which led Thump to herald it as “So good it hurts” and Mojo Magazine to say  “R.Seiliog presides over a subtle, imaginative record that transcends many genres.”  R. Seiliog’s work has received airplay from the likes of Huw Stephens, 6 Music – Mary Anne Hobbs, Radcliffe and Maconie and Lauren Laverne.

Prince William has his sights on the hip hop throne with new single ‘Million Ways’

Having performed at last year’s SXSW festival, Houston rapper Prince William is an exciting new hip hop underdog on the rise.

His latest single ‘Million Ways’ sees him showing off his adept flow and wordplay skills. It centres lyrically around pushing one’s talents in order to be successful.

Stream the single here on Soundcloud:

https://soundcloud.com/glavish/million-ways

Written over a year ago, the rapper explains the inspiration behind it: ‘I was working the graveyard shift at a gas station one night (Winter ’14) and decided to play the instrumental on the loud speaker since I was the only one there. I must’ve played the instrumental 100 times that night and then as I was mopping the floor, the flow and the hook just naturally hit me and I recorded it on my next off day.’

Prince William’s inspiring self-confidence and rhymes are likely to appeal to fans of artists like Jay-Z, Childish Gambino and J Cole.

A highly self-motivated artist, Prince William has started a music career through his own determination and grit, setting up his very own record label Lavish Living Ent.

He explains the source of his drive: ‘When I decided to start making music, I called lots of old friends from Elementary all the way to High school and they all (exaggerated with “all” but pretty damn close) dismissed me and that helped me develop my “self-inspiring” attitude and I also learned to depend on myself much more than the average person.’

Prince William has always seen himself as an underdog. Upon entering a contest for indie rappers in 2013 led by local hip hop legend OG Ron C, the rap icon came up on stage and said “I don’t wanna hear music about your problems, if I wanted to hear about problems I would’ve stayed home and looked at bills. This is not the rap game, I want to see girls shake their asses and music I can dance to.”

Knowing from the start that he was different to the other rappers in the competition and that this statement was subliminally aimed at him, Prince William didn’t let it get in the way of his vision, having since proved OG wrong by performing at SXSW and scoring radio airplay from Kiss FM phoenix and an interview with KTSU Houston.

He hopes to continue onwards and upwards continuing to push his own record label and garner a worldwide fanbase.

Theatre Awards Nominee Iestyn Morris releases Quilter song from self-titled EP

A bit of a classical sweetbeat here:

Magnificent counter-tenor Iestyn Morris, nominated as ‘Best male in an opera production’ in the 2016 Wales Theatre Awards, is about to release more English song; Roger Quilter’s mystically romantic “By a Fountainside”.

Described as “a gifted ‘all-rounder’” by Digital Journal, the musician and actor is one of the brightest stars shining in the contemporary world of classical music. “By a Fountainside” is taken from his upcoming EP release in which he recorded a collection of 19th and 20th century settings of Jacobean texts.

2016 is marking Iestyn’s 10 year anniversary as a professional opera singer which has led him to start recording some of the songs that were part of his journey throughout the last decade. His latest single release is an introduction to a romantic world of nostalgia, taking on a Jacobean text by Ben Johnson. He explains: “Listening again to live recordings of concerts I’ve performed over the years, I feel that many of these songs deserve a proper studio recording.”

Having had extensive experience on the world’s opera stages, one of his latest successes was his role as Peter Pan in the eponymous opera at the Royal Opera House in London last year. His extraordinary interpretation earned many praises in the media such as The Birmingham Post writing:”A new counter-tenor role on this scale is something rather special; Morris was both physically and vocally agile, with a charisma that, at crucial moments, held the whole theatre rapt.”

Winner of awards such as the Tracey Chadwell Award for contemporary song or the Patricia Routledge National English Song Competition, the counter-tenor has performed in various high profile venues around the world.  Born and raised in London, Iestyn has had an unusual start to his career having studied Mechanical Engineering at University before going on to study early music and then opera at Guildhall School of Music & Drama. In his spare time he is creative in a somewhat different aspect; as a self-taught upholsterer, he is currently refurbishing a late French chaise long.

The Single “By a Fountainside” is out now from the EP “Iestyn Morris”

Half-Filipino/Austrian Beatboxer Pipo releases new song ‘No Go!’ as part of Loopexx

Loopexx is a new exciting duo featuring half-Filipino/Austrian human drum machine Pipo (aka James Philip Platzer) and Austrian singer and guitarist Eric K.

Their unique style is a blend of beatboxing, distorted guitars and positive lyrics that inspire social change.

‘No Go!’ is their latest single, criticising the ignorance of society that leads to violence, which will be released on June 3rd. Listen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1vcLDxj3kM&feature=youtu.be

Loopexx have already released previous single – emphatic pop/rock tune ‘Here We Are, There We Go’– carrying motivating lyrical themes and all profit going to charity.

Both from very different backgrounds, Pipo comes from an r&b background whilst Eric’s background is primarily in rock.

The pair’s altruistic outlook is a reflection of the difficulties they have both had to face in life and having to overcome them.

Whilst living in Austria, Pipo has battled with racism for his Filipino roots. He is the lucky survivor of 2013 cyclone, Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest tropical cyclones ever recorded. Pipo has family in the Philippines who he regularly visits.

Eric meanwhile was forced to abandon a promising career as a professional footballer after an injury in 1991, unable to walk for an entire year.

Loopexx’s quirky musical concoction of rock and hip hop and their world-encompassing message of unity and philanthropy make them an inspirational and exciting new group in this generations bustling musical landscape.

As with previous tracks, all profits gained from this single go to charity.

South East 5 Piece Ready To Release New Single – New Design

A heavy rock five piece from the South East of England, Metasic are a band with all the quality to join the greats in their genre. Dedicated to their craft and with the high quality output to prove it, they’re now readying themselves for the release of their epic single ‘New Design’. There’s always been something thrilling and feral about the marriage of distorted guitar and pounding drums, but Metasic bring a melodic twist to the genre not often seen.

Bandshot

You can hear the single here:

Metasic as a band have been well received by rock fans wherever they have travelled, finding comparisons to the likes of Faith No More, Queens of the Stone Age, Nine Inch Nails. In ‘New Design’ however they have a single which leans closer to the sounds of Incubus, right down to the smooth, pure rock vocal.
